Question 1; Testing your skills on movement across membranes.

Shown above is a special device used to work out the action of osmosis. A dialysis bag is prepared and a special meter is attached to the bag. The dialysis bag is dipped into a beaker containing some concentration of sucrose. The meter is able to give readings on the osmotic pressure of the dialysis bag.

There are four set ups required, each set up contains an unique amount of sucrose solution.

1) 0.6M of sucrose
2) 0.7M of sucrose
3) 0.8M of sucrose
4) 0.9M of sucrose

i) Explain, why the pressure of the meter increase at a concentration of 0.9M.
